Stack & Stitch: Needles Clash is a competitive patch-placing game where two players fight for control over shared randomly spawned pieces. Choose faster and stitch smarter—because the piece you don’t pick goes straight to your opponent! Think Tetris-meets-tailoring, but with sabotage, special tools, and pants that need urgent fixing.

Designed for the GrowUP! Game Jam, built in Unreal Engine 5 by a tiny but mighty team.

THE PREMISE

Two tailors.
One pair of pants.
Two legs that desperately need mending.

Race against your opponent to fill all the holes in your pant leg. Every piece matters, every second counts, and every missed selection is a gift to your rival.

If you can stitch your side faster, you win. If not… well, maybe patching isn't your calling.

HOW TO PLAY

Goal

Patch all the gaps on your side of the pants before your opponent finishes theirs.

Mechanics

• Two random pieces spawn in the center.

• Be the first to claim one. Speed matters!

• Place the piece on your board in the most optimal way.

• The piece you don’t select is automatically assigned to your opponent.

• Out-think, out-stitch, and out-speed your rival.

Rules

• Patch your pant leg from bottom to top.

• If you complete a line while gaps exist below, your newly placed patches above will be destroyed down to the lowest gap—so plan carefully.

• You may skip any piece except the Scissors piece.

SPECIAL PIECES

🪡 Mending Piece

A dynamic wildcard! It adapts to the shape of the gap in a 2×2 block and fills it instantly.

✂️ Scissors Piece

Destroy strategically. Clear a 2×2 zone to fix mistakes or trap your opponent by forcing inefficient placements.

Created as part of the GrowUP! Game Jam, the theme of mending inspired us to reinterpret classic falling-block mechanics into a competitive race of patching pants.

Our vision was to blend:

• Tetris-like spatial reasoning

• Split-second decision making

• Shared resource tension

• A cozy handcrafted aesthetic

The result is Stack & Stitch: Needles Clash—a rapid-fire “patch duel” full of strategy, sabotage, and style.
